FGCU President Mike Martin sent out a campus-wide email this afternoon addressing an adjustment to semester grades.
According to the email, FGCU will be implementing an optional course-by-course “Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory” grading system.
“This is something we have been working on diligently with our 11 sister universities and the Board of Governors to assist our students who may wish to opt for this type of grade over traditional letter grades for the Spring semester,” Martin said.
Further information regarding this grading system will be sent to students by 4 p.m. tomorrow, according to Martin.
Martin then addressed the students who have expressed their desire for the service-learning requirement at FGCU to be waived in response to this pandemic.
“…the two characteristics of an FGCU degree that make it unique, distinguished and special are colloquium and service learning. To waive either would diminish the value and significance of being an FGCU graduate” the email said.
