Richard Pegnetter, 71, the founding dean of Lutgert College of Business, died this past Monday, Sept. 9. Pegnetter joined Florida Gulf Coast University in 1995 and dedicated 15 years of service to the institution. He also served as the interim president in 2007.
In a previous interview with the News Press, he described his time at FGCU as “the most rewarding of my professional career.” President Wilson Bradshaw described Pegnetter in an email to his staff as a “longtime and highly esteemed member of the FGCU family… that will be missed by all of us.” A public memorial in honor of Pegnetter will be hosted at FGCU sometime in the next few weeks. Eagle News will provide event details as they are released.
