During the 2012-13 season, the FGCU men’s basketball team made history by becoming the first 15-seed to ever advance to the Sweet 16.
In that moment, Dunk City was born. Since then, the men’s team hasn’t participated in a NCAA tournament, but that doesn’t mean Dunk City is going anywhere.
There is only one remaining player, Filip Cvjeticanin, from the 2013 Sweet 16 run. Despite a brand new program, including two new coaches, four freshmen and six transfers, the team is ready for the same national attention it received before.
The Eagles’ recruiting class this year may be the best the program has ever seen, beginning with four-star, top-100 recruit Rayjon Tucker, the highest-rated recruit in school history.
Eagle News works hard to bring you the Dunk City issue each year, and this year, we’re offering a behind-the-scenes look at it all.
