Red Bull drops in on FGCU’s first day of classes

Those brave enough to take 8 a.m. classes, were pleasantly surprised (and most likely confused) when their sleepy eyes saw a giant crate with parachute attached in front of Lutgert Hall on Wednesday morning.
Students shyly crept up on the crate and slowly realized their prayers had been answered. Red Bull chose FGCU as one of the university campuses to receive a #AirDrop of their limited edition flavors as part of a new marketing initiative to reach out to those in their teens and twenties.
After realizing no one was going to pop out of the crate, students rushed in like warriors reaching into a chest to select their weapons of choice; blueberry, cranberry or tropical.

The battle of the first day’s early morning classes didn’t stand a chance now that FGCU students had surges of Red Bull pumping through their green and blue veins.
An anonymous source from Red Bull said the crate was dropped off in front of Lutgert Hall with their modified Bell 204B helicopter, “Huey.” Although Eagle News is currently unable to receive any footage of the #AirDrop actually taking place, it has been confirmed that the activation takes place nationwide and only specific universities are chosen to receive. Usually the company drops the crate off around finals week, but it doesn’t look like there are any complaints from students who have posted on social media using the #AirDrop.
If you were one of the lucky ones to experience this Red Bull activation, tag #AirDropFGCU on Instagram or Twitter and hopefully our friends from Red Bull will send us a care package around finals too.
