This week, FGCU students have the opportunity to send Student Government their opinions of carrying concealed firearms on campus through an online survey.
Breanna Rigg, the SG director of communications and marketing, said the survey asks students if they are in favor of, not in favor of or neutral to campus concealed carry.
The anonymous survey also includes a comments section for students to share their opinion with SG.
Rigg is hoping to receive at least 100 results from students by Friday, Feb. 19.
“We’re going to look at the results, see what students say and try to get a good feeling for how the student body feels about this issue,” Rigg said.
The survey will be available to all FGCU students until Feb. 19 at www.surveymonkey.com/r/fgcusgconcealedcarry. The link has also been posted on the SG Facebook page and on EagleLink.
The Florida House of Representatives passed legislation to allow concealed carry on college campuses in February, but the bill died in the Florida Senate.
