SG Elections look to break 2,000 voter mark after day two
March 3, 2016
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, the FGCU Student Government elections reached 1,342 total votes so far in the voting window. After collecting 891 votes on the first day, 451 votes came in by the end of physical voting on Wednesday.
Since voting is also conducted online, the numbers continue to grow without time constraints.
Ian Knight, the supervisor of elections, told Eagle News that the goal was to break 2,000 votes, which would surpass the record of 1,660 set in 2014. The 1,660 votes in the 2013-2014 election accounted for 11 percent of that year’s population.
Voting online is still open; however, students will have an opportunity to vote in person from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday in Cohen Center 247. Voting will end on Thursday, March 3 at 5 p.m., and the results will be announced later that evening at 7 p.m.
