Miley Cyrus joins ‘The Voice’

Miley Cyrus’s appearance as an advisor on NBC’s “The Voice” debuted during the beginning of this season’s knockout rounds.
Working closely with the main four coaches, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine, Cyrus gave her take and advice during two-on-one meetings with the contestants.
“I’m a little obsessed with it,” Cyrus said to Pharrell, according to the Daily Mail UK. “I’m like a competitive freak that loves to watches people.”
“She’s such a free spirit,” Aguilera said of Cyrus, according to the Daily Mail UK. “She’s a lot of fun.”
A number of the contestants have been pleasantly surprised to see Cyrus join in on their time with their specific coaches.
With this news, Cyrus will be officially receiving her own big red chair.
As for the other judges, Hollywood Life confirms that both Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera will be taking this time to focus on their own careers.
“The opportunity that ‘The Voice’ gives the coaches in doing other things is amazing,” an insider told Hollywood Life. “Gwen and Christina are taking those stepping stones to do other things like record more music, work on a tour and be involved with a handful of other things. Plus, they love being mothers and want to enjoy their children growing up as well. Both are in ‘The Voice’ family and will without a doubt return in future seasons.”
Who will be taking the place of Pharrell Williams? A face we haven’t seen on “The Voice” since the seventh season: Alicia Keys.
Where would this show be without Shelton and Levine’s constant bromance? Thankfully, they’re not going anywhere just yet.
What does the Keys and Cyrus duo mean for “The Voice?” This will be the first time there will be two female coaches alongside two male coaches, which could “shake up the show,” “The Washington Post” says.
Live episodes of the show begin to air midseason. In recent years, Cyrus has pulled stunts on both television and live performances, which may bring in more viewers who are interested in seeing what Miley has up her sleeve.
“I didn’t really know what to expect from the show,” Cyrus told “People Magazine.” “I didn’t realize how real it was. It’s about making things your own by being yourself. I love being with these artists. You have this platform to bring light to people and to bring hope to people, and I think that’s what this show does.”
“The Voice” airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
