FGCU men’s basketball forward, Marc-Eddy Norelia was named one of 278 nominees for the 2017 Allstate National Association of Basketball Coaches Good Team on Friday, Nov. 30 after the NABC and WBCA announced their nominees for the Good Works Teams on Friday, Nov. 30.
This fifth annual award honors college basketball players for their community service and is one of the most prestigious off-the-court honors in men’s college basketball.
More than just a dominant force on the court, Norelia has also recently been recognized for his community service accomplishments.
Some of his off-court achievements include reading to local school children as part of the Eagle Reading program, delivering Christmas presents to the Children’s Hospital, assisting with basketball camps during the summer and helping work additional basketball clinics as a volunteer throughout Southwest Florida.
More recently, Norelia created his Make Your Marc LLC Company, helping to spread positively and give back to the youth through free basketball training sessions.
A final roster of 10 award recipients out of 181 nominees – five players from Division I and five players from Division II and the NAIA – will be announced in February.
