Seniors showcase their art, express their hearts

This Thursday, FGCU’s seniors majoring in art will showcase the sum of their education in the Spring 2013 Senior Project Exhibitions. The subjects will range from as simple as geometric shapes and light and sound demonstrations, to as complex as “The Hero’s Journey and gender roles in the media. The artists will be on hand during the opening ceremony to discuss their work and interpretations.
Anne Shively created a work that plays off of her battle with scoliosis.
“I wanted to reflect my personal experiences with the condition,” she said, “while drawing attention to the beauty of a curved spine.”
Meaghan Shaw, maker of “In Transit,” agrees.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve used patterned drawings and paintings as a form of meditation,” she said, “In my work, I want to illustrate the rhythm and movement of life.”
