Florida Gulf Coast University’s basketball head coach Pat Chambers recently announced the addition of two players from the transfer portal, filling all spots on the season’s roster.
Elijah Brooks | Guard | Graduate student
Brooks comes to Fort Myers after two seasons at Houston Christian University. After a strong start to his 2025-26 campaign where he averaged 12.3 points, 3.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, an injury in December meant he would only appear in eight games.
The season prior, Brooks started 27 of the 30 games he appeared in and averaged 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.
At 6-foot-3 and weighing 195 lbs, Brooks is expected to be a key piece in FGCU’s defensive schemes. That responsibility also means that he will likely guard against opposing teams’ best guards.
“Elijah Brooks is a big, strong, physical guard who plays downhill with tremendous toughness,” Chambers said in a press release. “He’s aggressive attacking the rim, makes plays for others and impacts the game on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he’s relentless – capable of pressuring the ball and guarding 94 feet with great intensity and effort.”
Charles “CJ” Outlaw | Forward | Senior
Outlaw played limited minutes last season at Massachusetts. The 6-foot-9 forward from Orlando saw action in just eight games.
On Dec. 22, Outlaw played 10 minutes in a 91-40 win over UMass-Boston where he scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds.
Before making the jump to Division I, Outlaw started 37 games for JUCO Trinity Valley Community College. He averaged 4.5 points per game and shot 73% from the field en route to a national championship.
“CJ Outlaw is a big with tremendous athletic ability and an explosive presence around the basket. He plays well above the rim, finishes with authority and brings great energy on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he protects the rim at a high level while also having the versatility to defend multiple positions,” Chambers said in a press release.
