This story was updated on Sept. 25 to reflect changes.

The FGCU Student Government Senate President, Tyler Varnadore, announced on Sept. 19 that he will be resigning from his position due to unforeseen circumstances. Varnadore’s resignation went into effect on Sept. 24.

The SG Senate will go through the gavel order to fill Varnadore’s position. If no one in the line of succession obtains the position, it will become open to all senators. Varnadore ensured in his resignation email that the Senate Executive Committee will continue the processes Varnadore oversaw and sustained. He wants students to know that the change in leadership will be a smooth transition and Senate procedures will continue to function as normal.

While Varnadore is leaving his position as Senate President, he will continue his participation in SG as a Senator representing the Lutgert College of Business.

“I want to close by expressing once again how proud I am of the Senate Executive Committee as well as the entirety of [the] Senate. This branch continuously shows great potential at doing great things for our Student Body as well as for Student Government as a whole,” Varnadore said in his resignation email which was sent to all SG Senators and Executives.
