Description: An immersive 50-minute museum-style experience that highlights contemporary social justice issues and challenges participants to think more deeply about social issues and concerns that impact communities locally, nationally and globally.

Name: Dia De Los Muertos

Time: 7:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m.

Place: Groves Pointe in North Lake Village

Description: Join FGCU Housing and Residence Life and partnered campus organizations for a lively and meaningful Dia De Los Muertos celebration to mourn the dearly departed. Discover the rich traditions and beautiful ofrendas that honor the lives of those who have passed.

Name: Re-New YOU Fall Festival

Time: 10:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.

Place: Library Lawn

Description: The FGCU Collegiate Life Alliance for Suicide Prevention (CLASP) Team is hosting their 3rd annual Re-New YOU Fall Festival. This fun, interactive and educational event is designed to bring the campus community together to promote mental health and wellness and reduce stigma.

Name: Vision Board Night

Time: 7:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.

Place: Eagles Landing

Description: Join resident assistants Ava and Ayriana to have a vision board night where residents can create boards to visualize the success they want for themselves.

Name: Movie Night

Time: 8:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m.

Place: Library Lawn

Description: Join the Programming Board on the library lawn for free food and fun with an outdoor movie. 

 

Date: Nov. 10

Name: S’mores

Time: 7:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m.

Place: FGCU Waterfront

Description: Join University Recreation and Wellness at the Waterfront for some s’mores under the stars. Bring a friend and enjoy the smell of the campfire. 

 

Date: Nov. 13

Name: Meet, Eat, and Meditate

Time: 5:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.

Place: Waterfront Pavilion

Description: Prevention and Wellness is partnering with CAPS and University Recreation to offer students a unique experience. Students can come to learn about mindful eating habits and chat with their peers followed by a 45-minutes yoga session.

Name: Diwali

Time: 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

Place: Library Lawn

Description: Diwali, also known as the festival of lights, is one of India’s biggest holidays and symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness. The Asian Student Association is providing students a night to experience all of the activities and traditions on the library lawn while learning more about Diwali. Wonderland Cookie Dough & Ice Cream food truck will be available for the first 100 students.

Name: Live on the Lawn

Time: 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.

Place: Library Lawn

Description: Join the Programming Board for free food, fun and activities on the library lawn. 

 

Date: Nov. 27

Name: November iLead Session

Time: 11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m.

Place: Cohen Student Union 201

Description: iLead sessions are monthly workshops run by the Multicultural and Leadership Development Center. This month’s sessions will be a collaboration with Student Government and there will be a workshop and panel session with members from SG.

Name: Late Night

Time: 7:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m.

Place: North Lake Bonfire Pit

Description: Join the Programming Board for free food, fun and activities at their late-night event.

Delinah Rosario is a senior majoring in journalism and minoring in theater. She is very involved on campus working with organizations such as the Multicultural and Leadership Development Center as the Director of Frosh Mosh as well as serving as a worship leader with Chi Alpha, a religious organization on campus. This is her third year as the Eagle News Opinion Editor, and she plans to make it a great one. She is certified in Photoshop and also has InDesign experience. Delinah also works for Housing and Residence Life as a desk assistant in West Lake Village. She has had a love for theater and writing since she was young and has plans to pursue a career in stage performance while working in freelance editing and writing. She is excited to see what this year will hold and excited for graduation in May 2024.

Jessica Piland is a senior majoring in political science and minoring in global studies. She found her passion for photography during her senior year of high school after shooting some film for fun with her grandfather’s camera from the 80s. In addition to her work as photo editor for Eagle News, she works as a staff photographer for FGCU Athletics and is a photography intern with the University Marketing and Communications department. As she enters her third year as photo editor, she is excited for the fun stories, campus events, and breaking news that Eagle News will be covering!
