Are you bored of the same routines every day at Florida Gulf Coast University? Get ready for some action. Our university’s Programming Board will not disappoint you. Two events are coming up, and you will not want to miss them.
The late-night committee will be holding “Foamify.” Simply put, “Foamify” will be a huge foam party. The event will not only have foam dispensers, but bubbles and glow sticks, too. A disk jockey will be playing music for everybody to enjoy. Foamify will be held on the North Lake waterfront from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday, April 17.
Shelby Borisman, sophomore resort and hospitality major with a concentration in event management and the director of the late night committee, is eager to hold this event. “It’s a new and exciting event that everyone can enjoy,” Borisman said.
For Borisman, the decision of whether to go should be easy for everyone. “Why not attend? It’s a lot of fun and it’s free,” Borisman said. She expects up to 150 attendees.
“As a director, I aim to impress FGCU students with events that suit their wants,” Borisman said. “I expect ‘Foamify’ will be something that students will really enjoy.”
The first comedy show of the semester will also be held soon. The show will be held in the Cohen Center Ballroom at 7 p.m. Feb. 23. The guests of honor who will aim to make everyone laugh are Steve Byrne and Dwayne Perkins.
Bill Polin, junior health science major, has been a part of the Programming Board since 2013 and currently serves as the director of both comedy and concerts. “I hope it will turn out to be a packed show that makes every student leave with a smile on their face,” Polin said.
Polin said Byrne has created and starred in the show “Sullivan and Son” that lasted three seasons. Byrne has also been in the movies “Couples Retreat” and “Four Christmases” and will be in the upcoming movie “Ktown Cowboys” that is set to release this year. Polin also mentioned Perkins has been seen on shows such as “Conan,” “Tosh.0” and “The Jay Leno Show.” Perkins will also be in the upcoming movie “Ktown Cowboys” along with Byrne.
