On Monday, Nov. 14, a second presidential finalist, Dr. Tod Laursen, withdrew from the presidency selection. Out of the three chosen finalists for FGCU’s fifth president, Dr. Robert Gregerson is the remaining finalist.

Pamela McCabe, coordinator of university communications and media relations, announced this through an email on behalf of Blake Gable, the chair of FGCU’s Board of Trustees.

“…he has finalized another opportunity that is a better fit for him and his family. On behalf of FGCU and its Board of Trustees, I wish Dr. Laursen all the best in his future endeavors,” read the email.

The original presidential selection was postponed on Nov. 2 after Dr. Tod Laursen, Dr. Robert Gregerson and Dr. Susana Rivera-Mills hosted three individual public forums on campus days before.

Six days after the postponement, Dr. Rivera-Mills withdrew from consideration. Dr. Laursen has withdrawn twelve days after this delay.

The Board of Trustees still plans to meet on Nov. 17, the date that was chosen after the postponement, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Cohen Student Union in room 201.
